 Executive CBC RO Timisoara constitution:

At this moment, our team is formed by young and enthusiastic experts who sustain the Romanian-Serbian cross-border communities’ efforts in cooperation improvement and development of socio-economical environment through European funds used in projects financed by Romanian-Serbian Cross-Border Cooperation Programmes.

One of the main responsibilities of the CBC RO (Regional Office for Cross Border Cooperation Timisoara) team is delivering technical assistance to Phare CBC beneficiaries during project implementation and monitoring the progress of these projects financed by Romania-Serbia Neighbourhood Program 2004-2006. After three calls of proposals, the CBC RO staff monitorized 147 projects, which were contracted with beneficiaries from the Romanian side of the border.

The Romania-Serbia IPA Cross-Border Cooperation Programme has been approved by the European Commission on 27 of March 2008 for the period 2007-2013 and focuses on increasing the overall competitiveness of the economy in the border area and on the improvement of the quality of life for the border communities. IPA CBC Programme provides the opportunity for both countries to continue their cross-border cooperation under the new instrument.

Four priority axes have been identified as the basis for intervention in order to address common challenges facing regions in both Romania and Serbia:

Priority Axis 1: Economic and Social Development*

Priority Axis 2: Environment and Emergency Preparedness*

Priority Axis 3: Promoting “people to people” exchanges*

Priority Axis 4: Technical Assistance**

* Under Priority Axes 1, 2 and 3 projects will be financed after being submitted by applicants following the call for proposals.

**The fourth Priority Axis is dedicated to ensuring the proper functioning of the programme implementation bodies and is not to be included in the allocation for project applications.
